i was wondering is there anyway to swap a 91 4.3 from TBI to MFI. If not does anyone know how i could get better throttle response from my TBI

yes you can but its not easy there is some good info on thirdgen.org for the swap. have you done the the ultimate TBI mods, efan, or fipk yet?

start with the mods I've listed and go from there. BTW how many HP do you think the stereo is giving you?

Ice,

Get a TBI overhaul kit from NAPA. Get a gal of carb cleaner from O'Rielly's...the one which you can soak parts in for extended periods. How long depends on how dirty the TBI body is. Also, get a couple of cans of brake clean. After carefully taking it apart-paying attention to where and how parts come apart/fit, thoroughly clean-use brake clean to blowout/clean/dry parts, and rebuild carefully. When rebuilding fuel systems, cleanliness is key.

After I rebuilt my TBI, I also did a tune-up...changed plugs, caps and rotor, and replaced plug wires. My 4.3L with 175K miles now runs and starts terrific.

Also, before doing this tune-up, I ran a can of SeaFoam thru the gas tank as well as down thru the TBI. I can't remember if I poured it down throat or found a vac line to suck it thru the engine. Be sure to run most of the SeaFoam treated gas out of the tank. I did both of these BEFORE changing plugs cause much of the gunky stuff will end up on your plugs.

Good luck!

start here this link contains the below links and gives a little description of each http://www.tbichips.com/v6mods.htm

this one definatly needs a pressure gauge. fuel economy will go down, butt dyno readings will go up.

here is another page with duplicate info and other stuff you can do.

yep pretty much. I noticed a big difference just doing the tbi mods and efan. You'll see some more bottom end grunt. not much if any at the top end. I didn't go to a custom chip until i changed cam, heads, and intake.

yea i probably wont either. to be honest if i do these upgrades it probably wont be for awhile cause my main goal is to get her running like brand new and then upgrade. shes got some miles on her.

BTW pig i just noticed your picture. is that axle broken in the rear or does it have that much articulation
