 Ok I know this is a rpeat question, but here it goes. Low budget here, -I have an 89 s10 blazer, 4.3tbi 700r4trans, I have a 1991 camaro 305 tbi w/stock exhaust manifolds. I know the wiring harness and computer "will work" and I know the exhaust manifolds will work. I will need a distributor from the same car will work. what else will I need to get it installed (not including basic "new plugs wires etc) help me out, thanks

just curious why youd want to go to a 305 from a 4.3 , not really much of a hp gain. but you'll need motor mounts, you'll have to figure out a setup for your cooling, you will have clearance issues with your distributor and your firewall if you shove the motor back far enough....I reccommend the JTR motor mounts for the v8 swap. but once again if it were me id look into a 350 man

4.3 150,000+ miles 305 30,000 miles, free engine, complete. do swap now, use truck as a shop truck, for custom paint business, need extra torque for towing. did I mention free engine... and I can do the swap now, with the 305, work out all the bugs, cause we all know swaps arent done in 7 days with commercials in between (joke). and the motor fires right up with 2 minutes to spare (another joke). I am doing a cheap yet cleap swap yea I will gain only a few extra ponies, and a little more torque. but when its time to put in a "heathier" small block, the "swap" will already be done. also what about flywheel, will the one from the 4.3 work? again budget minded here.

Update Update!!!Ok sorry this took a little longer than planned...but its because it is my truck, and my customers vehicles come first. ya know...any ways, I have r&r 'd motors in mustangs camaro's firebirds chevy trucks you name it, i have even r&r'd a 4.3 back into an s10. this v8 swap has gone smoother than anything I have ever done, I used the exhaust manifolds from the 1991 camaro, all exsisting wiring harness and computer from the stock 4.3 blazer. the only mods I have had to do is....jtr adapter mounts w/2.8 motormounts, a flex hose for the top radiator...hell the lower hose even fit from the 4.3. i had too extend the temp send unit and knock sensor wires about a foot, and .......add electric fans...taking it ot exhaust shop to adapt the y pipe...thats it , wholly shit what an easy swap. anyone have any questions or comments let me know, I am way impressed hoiw friggin easy it was...and btw, still needs tune up, but i feel alot more torque than the 4.3 so far.

primo,on the temp sending, should be able to just pull that wire out of the loom and it would be long enuff.Yea, I have done to many tbi swaps, time to move on to the next round...lsx 6 speed swap.Although I still love playing with the tbi v8 s10's.(hint) "dont tell everyone its that easy".v8 s10 swaps pay good"...lol,

it would have reached that way , but it just looks way cleaner now, i got to put the factory style wire covering over all the wires now, I want this thing looking bone stock. as I said before, I wasnt going for a hot rod, just a nice way low budget work truck with more umph, I got it. road test coming tommorrow I hope, I picked up an "exhaust system that works" from a friend who is upgrading to a custom dual setup today for fifty bucks, so I am installing it tomorrow, and gonna go with two 12 " electric fans should keep it cool huh?

the motor mounts are from JTR it was sooo friggin easy, I removed the front radiato support, only took us about 45 min. with hand tools but was so much easier pulling and installing eng and tranny as one unit. also keep the eng mount bolts loose enough to adjust as you go then tighten once in. that helped alot

had some customers cars to work on , havent done much. exhauct issues now, used a
rigged" exhaust a friend had on his s10. total .....abortion, but will get me by til i get the true duals done in a week or so. Set the timing today and checked again for fliud leaks and stuff, real smooth and quet considering open manifolds... more updates to come
