break grille, open hood

 

shouldn't need to break the grill.

the grill is just held on by push clips. a slight tug should get the grill off.

 

Too bad the grille tucks up under the hood and you have to break it to get it off. I'm not sure you can get to the latch from the front side. I believe the latch support is in front of the latch so you can't just stick a screwdriver in and pop it open. Is the cable broke or the latch broke?

 

Not sure what is broke. The cable seems to be in one piece all the way into the passenger compartment. Pulling on it full force using vice grips and attempting to "shock" the hood open hasnt worked. I have to assume there is an issue with the latch, it has never been in an accident or anything so I dont understand why it is being so difficult.

 

Cable could be corroded in the sleeve or where it comes out to attach to the latch.

 

Have someone push on the hood ,while you pull on the cable.

Thanks all. Nothing worked from here. But I was able to get it open by shoving a socket onto the bolts that hold the latch on and loosening them both. It seems it was bound up. Cable works pounding banging lifting pulling didnt work but that did.


So: final solution use a 1/4 drive socket and extension and loosen the bolts holding the latch. (lubricate everything and realign latch).

Cool. Mine does this too. I'm gonna take the latch off and line it when I get home.
